Monday was the annual Halloween party at our cousins, the Lee's. It was good times and great food as usual. Alex has been guitaring up a storm lately so he decided to go as John Denver -- complete with guitar and John Denver songbook in hand. He and Anna (Olivia Newton John?) favored us with several numbers. There was pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and the ever popular donut eating on a string contest. This was the first year I haven't spent half the night carving the kids pumpkins -- they handled that all on their own -- it's good stuff.
Saturday was the ward trunk-or-treat. We had a fun time and the kids came home with more than adequate supplies of sugar-laden treats. Alex originally intended to dress up as a cowboy but when he got there he found out he'd really dressed up as our friend Dave Lindsay. Eve was a cowgirl, Lydia was a gypsy (thanks to Grandma Matheson's accessories), Camille wore a poodle skirt. If we'd had more time I would've made Camille a mummy outfit. She's perfected the art of walking this week but in order to keep her balance she puts both arms straight out in front of her while she walks - it's cute. Brad and Carter were mountain men -- Carter was Davy Crockett and Brad was Daniel Boone.

Isabella, Johndavid & Carter. It's tough with no hands. I think cousin Clark won this round with Carter a close 2nd.

Lydia and Bradley. Thanks for chewing with your mouth closed Brad.

Eve shows the get-it-done technique.
|
Adam Stephenson, Steve Hales, Alex, David Jackson, Jay Lee -- stiff competition but Alex took the honors. (As a side note -- nice pants, eh? He was wearing those the night we first met.)

Lydia -- She wanted to add fingers and a giant spider to make hers extra scary.

For the ward trunk-or-treat Alex and Eve went as cowboy and cowgirl.
