Welkers and a Wonderful Week

When we came home from St. David last Sunday we got to bring the Audra, Preston & Bryce Welker with us for a few days.  Marla & Grant were headed to New York for a week and Kurtis stayed in Silver City with friends.  It was really fun to have cousins stay with us.  There was a lot of swimming, playing in the mud, riding bikes, playing school, legos, playmobil and dress-up.  I guess I was a little more responsive to our guests than my own children because Eve started saying "Aunt Julie" when she wanted to get my attention.

Thursday the 22nd, Carter had his first flag football practice.  Afterwards, he, Alex & Brad got to play softball with the ward.  On Friday the kids had a half day of school and we went swimming at Grandma Matheson's to celebrate.  The water was chilly -- not sure how that happened because it's still hot around here.

Saturday, the 24th was a busy day.  Carter had another football practice and then a game.  I didn't get to stay for the whole game but he made a spectacular defensive play while I was there (absolutely no bias on my part).  The girls and I then went to a baby shower for cousin Erin Suah and her baby Emery while the boys did more "manly" (Barros pizza) things with Grandpa Matheson and their other boy cousins and Alex attended a baptism for our friend Dennis.  Then Alex and I made 10 gallons of potato soup for the stake RS luncheon.  At 3:30 was the luncheon.  I got to accompany Sherry Kinsley while she sang.  It went well but I enjoyed the program much more after that part was done.  The general RS broadcast was at 5pm and was wonderful as usual.  I especially enjoyed Elder Uchtdorf's talk.  We finished off the evening with a little football watching and cousin time at Grandparents' Mathesons home.

Lydia, Preston, Bryce, Audra, Eve paint suncatchers.

The kids were excited that Bryce learned to ride Lydia's bike.

looks like you had a great week--next time, let me know and I'll send my kids down too. :) Trevor wishes he could've been there for the flag football (he's really bummed that the only league here has all their games on Sundays).
