It's been a good few weeks. We enjoyed general conference on the 6th & 7th along with lunches at Grandparents Matheson's home with the Stephensons, Lincoln and Sadie. There was also a fun cousin get together at the Lee's during the priesthood session Saturday night. The kids all did a great job reporting on their favorite talk in FHE the next day. We got to go to the kid's school Fall Carnival the same day. It was a much anticipated event that did not disappoint.
Brad and Carter saved up enough dough this week to buy the computer game Minecraft. Their mother, as mother's sometimes do, told them she was not willing to purchase it but gave them that option (secretly hoping that they might not). They worked hard to earn it and she's glad they are enjoying the fruits of their labors within the limits she sets.
A couple of weeks ago we had parent/teacher conferences. The kids are all doing really great in school. Carter and Lydia were honored as Students of the Month for their respective classes this month. The virtue of the month they were honored for was diligence. An award for diligence says alot about someone's character so congratulations Lydia and Carter! Lydia has also made great strides in reading and earned a box of Fancy Nancy books for her efforts.
Carter has had two football games now. His team pulled off a victory both times. Way to go Special Forces! Brad gave a talk in primary today and did an excellent job following in his father's public speaking shoes. It was well thought out and confidently presented. We've also had a lot of fun with cousin Sadie this last week. Eve had her fall break from preschool and was literally bored to tears. Gratefully cousin Sadie was available to save the day. The girls had a great time and were joined at times by our neighbor Tony and our friends Marjorie & Heber Morley.
Camille (and her parents) are celebrating a great milestone -- today was her 2nd Sunday to stay in nursery without Mom and Dad. Yay Camilly Vanilly! She's also expanding her vocabulary by leaps and bounds. She's got the names of her siblings down, Bra-by, Car-Car, Lil-la, Evie; the ever important "Jago" (Ninjago); her own special word for drink, "gung-gung"; and she is also ready and willing to try and say any word out there but if she deems it too complicated she pronounces it "uh". Camille went for her 6 month ear-tube follow up appointment. Her little tubes are in place and doing the trick nicely. We haven't dealt with an ear infection since they went in and it's been awfully nice.

| The students of the month after flag ceremony October 4th. Along with Lydia and Carter, our friend, David Allen was also honored. |
 |
| Carter, Camille, Lydia & Eve. |
 |
| Lydia organized a parade and had Dad and Carter marching around the yard while she threw candy from a basket. |
 |
| Camille liked riding her 'float'. It's not quite sweater weather but it has cooled down quite a bit and it's been fun to be outside. The lemon tree on the right of the picture looks like it will have a bountiful harvest this year so stop by for lemonade next spring. |

| #25 in our program but #1 in our hearts -- Carter James Matheson at his first football game. |
 |
| One of Carter's favorite parts of football -- yelling the Special Forces chant with his team. |
 |
| Eve and Camille try to avoid bedtime by reading some of our favorite books -- Fancy Nancy and Mary Englebreit's fairtales. |
