Happy Bday Alex!

Alex turned a big 34 on Thursday (10/11/12).  It was a fun day.  We opened presents at breakfast.  It was a staff meeting at lunch so I got to join Alex, Lori, Jess and Shelli for lunch and Lori's yummy cake at the office.  That evening, Alex's parents, Lincoln & Sadie joined us here at home for dinner and cake.  We all shared a memory of Alex.  I remember the first birthday that I knew him -- October 11, 1997.  He was at a ward or Institute social and super excited about the disco ball his parents had just sent.  He was wearing his fish tie and a big grin.  He wanted to make sure I noticed the fish tie -- a forewarning of the fish he and JB were planning to hang on our front door that night or the next.   That was a fun semester.

I just got interrupted from my writings to attend a concert.  It was Alex as lead guitar and singer, Brad on trombone, Lydia as backup singer, Carter dancing the Wiggly Jaybird (his own special move) and Eve dancing ballet with me and Camille as audience.  The performance was of 'Take Me Home Country Roads' by John Denver.  It's fun to be a family and wonderful to have such a great Dad and husband to make life even funner.

For his birthday I made a t-shirt quilt with all of Alex's elementary, Jr. High & High School t-shirts.  OK, so I may have fudged on a few, I'm told the yellow #7 may have been Monte's (I didn't discover Alex's #11 shirt until after sewing it together) and the top "Summer Bash 2000" 70's Club shirt is technically college days but the club was definitely High School so we let it slide.  It was fun making it and as Eve says, "Him likes it".
Rod, Lincoln, Carter, Camille, Alex, Brad & Eve light the candles.
