Back to Reality

The kids headed back to school this week.  The little girls and I missed having them home.  Camille was especially distraught and very clingy all week.  Her double ear infection and quitting nursing just might also have had something to do with that.

On Thursday we hosted the Matheson luncheon at our home.  It was fun to see the Shumways and Aunt Leileen.  That evening Alex took the kids to our Great-Grandparents Matheson's home.  Grandpa and the boys made pinewood derby cars while Alex and the girls danced and played with Grandma.  I hear a good time was had by all.  I had fun too going to a RS activity with Jen Duffany.

Friday evening Alex and I had a fun date.  It was our friend Alicen Rapier's birthday and to celebrate they had a dance in the cultural hall.  We had fun dusting off our rusty dancing skills (think foxtrot & cha-cha) and I enjoyed seeing Alex getting his groove on -- was that Pour Some Sugar on Me Baby by Def Leopard . . . ?  In case you're wondering, he can still do his slide across the gym floor.

Saturday was a busy day.  The boys both had a football game, Lydia had a birthday party to go to and then there was the Pinewood Derby.  Brad's car won the award for "Most Accessories" and Carter won the "Sportiest" award.  When it came to speed, Carter was in the top overall heat but finished 4th by a fraction of a second.  Brad won second last year and while he would've preferred to win this year too, he was kind enough to give others that opportunity.  : )  Both the boys were really good sports and I was proud of them.
Brad took the prize for photography at the football games.  Here's his shot of Carter putting on the brakes after a play.  It looks slightly ballet-ish to me but don't tell Carter I said that.
