Last Saturday Carter had Cub Scout Day Camp all morning and then went straight to his football game. That particular game was a much warmer and more fun to cheer for (we won) event. Carter made a spectacular 90 yard touchdown during the instructional quarter. He also had several great tackles during the regular game including a dash across the field to be the lone man to take down the player heading unimpeded for the endzone. When we took him home we discovered that he'd done this all with a fever. Poor guy, he was down with a fever for the next 3 days but is doing good now.
Brad also had a great week. He decided for the first time to try out for the school's poetry recitation contest. He picked "If You Can't Go Over or Under, Go Round" by Joseph Morris. He did an awesome job of memorizing and adding expression and a few hand gestures to go with it and won first place for his grade level. That means he gets to recite it had the school Christmas concert next month. Way to go Brad! He also marked a milestone by voluntarily choosing to get a flu shot -- I didn't forsee that ever happening in my lifetime.
November 6th was a disappointing day. We had hoped for different results in the presidential election. Luckily, we had Bluebell icecream on hand to drown our sorrows in. With the election results in mind as well as Thanksgiving on the horizon I took time to count my blessings and have to say that I am so richly blessed. From family, friends, self-respect, peace and faith in God, we have everything that brings happiness and outside events don't change that.
Friday the 9th, Alex and I got to go on a date to the temple. It was also the day of Lydia's much anticipated play-date with her friend, Anna Satler. They had a great time. That evening, Alex and I went to Stephanie Walker's 40th b-day party. It was a lot of fun -- we revisited birthdays of the past by playing tag, breaking a pinata and playing a name game. It's always a good time at the Walker's!
