Summer!!!

This weekend we started in on the not so enviable job of painting the kitchen/living room. Carter was quite happy to help Alex with this part of it though.
The boys finished school the day before Memorial Day weekend and we love having them home. The time is flying though -- already 2 weeks gone of summer break.

We also got 6 chickens from our friends, the Rapiers.  We now have 6 chickens, 3 goats, 1 calf, and 1 cat. What more could we want?! Alex told me tonight though that his new dream is 40 irrigated acres and a herd of Uncle Dean cattle.

In other news of the week, Uncle Jeff called today to say that he and Kelsey are engaged. Congrats! We're excited to have an Aunt Kelsey. We also really enjoyed doing a video conference call for Grandma Sue's bday with all our Kartchner cousins/siblings. We got the lawn mower to work, we remembered to sign up for irrigation, we bought a sectional couch, Julie played the organ for the funeral of a long ago friend of Grandma Ora McInerney, Elsie Tennant, and then we all attended the funeral 2 days later of our good friend, Mike Sourant -- he, his road kill stew and hugs will be missed. Last, but not least, I am finally caught up with our pictures!!!!

Carter and Brad show off our first egg. Nice face, C-Boy.

The kids were playing last week and found this little bird that had fallen out of his nest. He was old enough to hop around but wasn't doing much flying. Luckily, it was our neighbor, Haskell, who found him and thus he got to take it home. Trying to raise baby birds is not my specialty.

Lydia and Aunt Megan pose with our calf. Megan's middle name is Christine and the calf, Joey Christine, was named after her. Not sure if she considers that a compliment but the kids have naming rights on the animals so she'll have to take that up with them.

Cousin Jon Brimhall married the lovely Tessa 2 weeks ago so we had the treat of hosting family betwixt the wedding and reception. Gma Sue, Megan's Mom & Aunt Dixie K were all there. Megan's parents just happened to be in town and it was fun to see them again.
Aunt Dixie and Camille hit it off.

Here is the picture of a really good big brother. Eve needed a little cheering up so Brad let her do a "make-over" on him and then played horse with her. Thanks, Brad!

fun updates, Jules! Trevor can relate to Lydia--he likes to twist his hair too & managed to give himself a bald spot, but after shaving it for a while, I think he may finally have it under control. He actually got to grow his hair out this last time...

Looks like you have lots of space to play and plenty of animals to keep you busy. When you're done painting you can head this way--I need some motivation in that department. :)

I'm thoroughly impressed that you really did catch up. Whenever I fall behind I just start up with a quick "we did fun things and stuff..." ha ha. Great pics! You should take more pics of your new house since Lincoln and I won't be able to see it until Christmas (well, I think Lincoln may already know what it looks like)
