Overheard At Our House

During a conversation about a wedding reception a confused Carter asked, "Reception? . . . I thought that was when you catch a pass in football." Grandpa Matheson and Dad were so proud.

Lydia ran up to me (Julie) last night with a fork in one hand and a knife in the other and handed them to me. "Mom, let's play roadrunner! You try to catch me and Eve." We recently introduced them to classic Looney Tunes and I guess Wile E. Coyote made quite the impression.

Eve is developing her own sign-language. Lately she's taken to opening her mouth and pointing in it. When I ask if she wants food she gives a very solemn nod in the affirmative.

It was lunch-time and I asked Lydia what she wanted to eat. After a little thought she said, "I want one of those waiting things". I asked what a waiting thing was. "You know, one of those things [treats] that you have to wait until after lunch to get."

Eve recently added purple playdough to our family's list of "Favorite Things to Put Up Your Nose". Previous entries included red hot candies (Bradley), kleenex (Carter), Polly Pocket shoes (Lydia).

I want one of those waiting things too. :) Sorry to hear about all of your not-very-exciting excitement of late. Hope everyone's feeling better!
