I'd Rather Be Stomped On By An Elephant (than get a flu shot)!!!

The nice note with my Labor Day breakfast.
I took Bradley, Carter, Lydia & Eve in to the pediatricians to get their check-ups/flu shots. The minute the cat was out of the bag that they were going to get shots there was a whole lot of weeping and wailing and nearly gnashing of teeth. I was trying to be silly and hopefully get the boys to smile and maybe even see how ridiculous they were acting so I told Carter, "I just say the word "shots" and you start screaming and crying. What if you started screaming everytime I just said the word elephant." He immediately shouts back, "I'd rather be stomped on by an elephant than get a shot!" The funny thing was that Bradley got his shots first (he had to have Hep A too), didn't even flinch and announced that it didn't even really hurt. Carter & Lydia did the same. Eve (who was the only one who had remained calm previously) screamed bloody murder when she got hers. Moral of the story I guess is that when getting shots everybody's got to cry sometime . . . or something like that. We all left the doctor's office in a great mood.

On Labor Day Bradley & Lydia got up early and fixed us a surprise breakfast. What a treat! They made toaster waffles and a delicious milkshake. They also had a really nice sign. Thanks kiddos! The rest of the day we did some labor but also had some water fun in the afternoon. Our neighbor, Janeva Craig, and cousins, the Lee family, came over to swim. We also did a fun obstacle course relay and some other games. We finished it off with a water balloon war in the pool -- just to make sure everyone got good and wet. Some other fun happenings of the last few weeks include getting a cute new cousin (Mercedes Grace Matheson), going to Carter's basketball games, experiencing the joys of pink eye and attending Dennis Smith's surprise b-day party which turned into a ward karaoke party benefiting Sister Sourant who has cancer. Then of course, there is Brad's birthday which we'll cover in more detail later . . .
