Is it March already?!?

Alex and I finished off February with the 3rd anniversary of our first kiss.  Our first kiss was on February 29th, 2000.  I surprised him by arranging with his office staff to schedule a fake patient so I could take him out to lunch during work.  For the record, he's still a really good kisser.

March 7th was my 34th birthday.  Alex and the kids let me sleep in and cooked me breakfast.  Brad also made me some brownies for my cake.  Other than that I did all kinds of exciting things like babysit my friend's kids, go to the eye doctor and administer medicine (we've had pink eye, ear infections & nasty colds the past few weeks). The calls and e-mails from family & friends made me feel special.  Thursday was a continuation of the celebration -- Alex and I went to see the musical "Wicked".  As with other dates we ran into the Greer ladies.  I think this is at least the 3rd time we've all ended up in the same place at the same time.

This week was Spirit Week at school.  There was a different theme each day that the kids could dress up as.  Carter & Lydia were especially enthusiastic in their outfits.  Friday was field day and Bradley looked sharp wearing his baseball uniform.  Camille learned to play peek-a-boo today & when you ask her for a kiss she gives a sweet hug around the neck.

Saturday was a busy day.  There was a funeral for our friend Gayle Jensen.  I was asked to play the organ for the service, the piano for both the musical numbers and, being the compassionate leader, I also got to be in charge of the luncheon afterwards.  It was a long but good day and I was grateful my prayers were answered because one of the songs I played was not easy and I was very blessed to hit the right notes at the right time.  I was sitting on the stand behind the organ during the funeral when in the middle of a talk I remembered that I hadn't silenced my cell phone.  It was about 6 feet away from me under the piano and I could just imagine it going off while I was playing a song so I ducked down and crawled over and turned it off.  Floy Bigler who was sitting next to me had a hard time keeping a straight face.  Here's hoping I was stealthy enough that she was the only one who noticed.  Meanwhile, Alex was doing all sorts of dental work for a Compassion Queen Creek event that offers healthcare to the financially challenged.  We are grateful for Grandma & Grandpa Matheson who did babysitting duty most of the afternoon.  Saturday evening UofA lost the Pac-12 Championship game to Colorado but gratefully a Star Wars movie & hotdog fest at the McHood's helped us drown our sorrows.
Brad did an excellent job at his orchestra concert.

Alex and the kids surprised me with a waffle maker and a yummy waffle breakfast for my birthday.

My birthday brownies -- Alex, Carter, Lydia, Eve, Julie, Bradley, Camille.

Lydia dressed for Hawaiian Day.

Lydia, Eve, Carter.  For twin day Lydia and Carter wore the shirts they got at a benefit for our friends the Claytons.  The Clayton's two youngest children have a rare form of leukodystrophy.  Carter decided last minute against wearing a flower in his hair to match Lydia's.  Bradley wore the same shirt to match with his friend, David Allen.

Carter won the all-school prize in the K-3rd grades for his nerdiness on Nerd Day.  It was all worth it when he got the prize which included a giant box of nerds, laffy taffy & a whoopie cushion.

Camille caught red-handed:  The day after Carter brought his box of nerds candy home I heard Eve and Camille having a great time in Eve's room.  Eve would yell, "Celebrate" over and over and there was a lot of laughing involved.  I hated to interrupt a good time so I didn't go in right away.  Turns out they were throwing the nerds all over the room (and eating a few in the process).  Silly girls.  Eve had to do a job to earn money to buy Carter new candy.
